Robert Haché - Association des Crabiers Acadiens

Robert Haché is a consultant in fisheries management who has been working for the fishing industry in the southern Gulf of St. Lawrence for over 25 years. Over the years, Mr Haché has worked with numerous mid-shore fishing fleets for bottom-dwelling fish, herring, shrimp, and snow crab especially. He is the director of the Association des crabiers acadiens (ACA - Acadian Crab Fishermen Association) and also acts as a spokesperson for the largest crab fishing fleets of New Brunswick and Quebec. Following the increased presence of North Atlantic right whales in fishing areas, Mr Haché currently has been coordinating a series of sea-based pilot tests on behalf of the crab fishing fleet, testing technologies aimed at avoiding right whale entanglements in snow crab fishing gear.
