Serge Langelier - UAPAN/AMIK

Serge Langelier is a biologist by training. He has been involved in managing fisheries organisations on the North-Shore for over 20 years. He was recruited as the biologist and project leader of the regroupement des pêcheurs professionnels de la Haute et Moyenne Côte-Nord (RPPHMCN - the Upper and Middle North-Shore Fishermen’s Association) in 1992. Subsequently, he was responsible for the science sector for Zone 16’s crab fishers, before becoming the RPPHMCN coordinator.

Shortly after the creation of AMIK (Agence Mamu Innu Kaikusseht) in 2006, he was selected for the post of Director of Fisheries. He has worked in support of developing fishing activities for the Innu Nation. This experience has allowed him to better understand how fisheries work in the Innu community. For the last twelve years, many challenges have been met to promote the advancement and development of fishing activities. In the face of the Innu community members’ enthusiasm and quality, Serge is optimistic for the future of fisheries.
